Music of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

These songs embody a small musical tradition. They are widely sung by children in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, a pioneer work of Sofia Cavalletti and Gianna Gobbi. They celebrate the essentials of our faith — and, as such, are equally suitable for any catechetical or liturgical setting. These songs are, in a sense, the choice of the children. They nurture the child’s natural sense of joy when encountering the sacred or engaged with mystery. Parents and catechists too will find here music for the soul.

Each book includes music and suggestions for when and how to sing each song, and a CD of children singing the songs. 

Catherine Maresca, author and catechist, has a wealth of personal and professional competency: mother of five children and foster parent of two deaf children; founder of the Christian Family Montessori School; theology degree from Trinity College and masters from Howard University Divinity School. A student of Sofia Cavalletti, she has been training catechists since 1987. She plays guitar and piano.
